You will work with NPI sourcing & design teams to provide guidance for the selection of reliable components based on failure mechanisms, evaluate the reliability impact of product change notifications from suppliers to manage component life cycles.
Coding of new components, Qualification of components, Supplier auditing & development, Compliance flagging (EU RoHS, REACH)
Coordinate prompt resolution of component level issues. Leverage quality and failure analysis support at the CM, and work directly with the component manufacturers where needed. Issues include end of life notifications, product change notices (PCN), and component level test failures. Facilitate required approved vendor list changes.
Evaluate alternate components to address design, supply chain or quality issues.
Review assembly level test yield data, and trend analysis. Facilitate corrective action and design changes.
Lead and manage component-related activities during new product development.
Work closely with design engineers to understand component requirements, generate component specifications and drawings and maintain bills of materials (BOM).
Serve as the technical liaison between engineering and procurement by participating in parts specification reviews and the part procurement process.
Maintain component library, including part numbers, classification and search parameters, to ensure optimum component selection and use of preferred vendors. Develop guidelines and train others to ensure consistent usage of the library.
Responsible for securing and maintaining current specifications, data sheets and SPICE models.
Resolve sustaining component issues for critical parts to ensure continuity of supply.
Work with design engineering to identify components required for new and existing products.
Implement a strategy to manage obsolete components by finding and validating suitable substitutes.
Create new part numbers and approved vendor lists, Identify additional component manufacturers.
